On Saturday, March 19th, the Atlanta Science Festival held “Taking Out the Trash” at Proctor Creek. The event placed a spotlight on the efforts currently underway to reduce the amount of trash entering the Proctor Creek watershed. Led by the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance’s Education Director Darryl Haddock, along with Emory’s Senior Lecturer of Art History Linda Armstrong, young participants learned how underwater trash is kept out of the watershed and created amazing art using recycled materials from the creek. Meridian Herald had the privilege of providing resources and assisting with creating an affected experience for students.
